Omega 6 fatty acids are important to the health of our skin, nerves, bones, and metabolism.

They are found naturally in nuts, seeds, and eggs.  The Standard American Diet is heavy in omega 6’s that are found in processed foods, foods cooked in vegetable oil at high temperatures such as corn, canola, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, safflower oils and hydrogenated fats such as margarine, and shortening.  These render the fats rancid and cause inflammation.

Omega 3 fatty acids are anti-inflammatory and are found in wild salmon, sardines, anchovies, herring, and krill oil.

To lower inflammation and make sure your body gets the healthy fats that it needs, focus more heavily on the omega 3 fats and the Omega 6’s in their natural form.
